Team behind the project:
Lost Relics is developed by Codebit Labs, a small game development studio based in Australia. Cliff Cawley is the creator behind this project as he is termed the sole developer for the Lost Relics game. Cliff has years of experience in game design and has worked on multiple projects in the past including Galactica, Battlestar, Happy Feet Two, Trainz, etc.
However, Cliff is often criticized for not speeding up the development process or introducing new features in the game.
There are no details available publicly regarding the audit of the gameΓÇÖs smart contract or the security verifications. This may be alarming for some users who rely on validating projects through their audit reports.
Lost Relics is one of the earliest play-to-earn NFT games created through Unity and is based on the Enjin blockchain. The action and adventure in the gameplay are inspired by popular games like Path of Exile, RuneScape, and Diablo. Lost Relics was launched back in 2019 and managed to gather more than 1500 users playing it each day.
The gameplay involves dungeons with traps and monsters and users have to find their way out while also collecting NFTs and other in-game items. Users can earn rewards in the form of chests available in the dungeons that may contain NFTs or in-game virtual currencies i.e. Gold and Shadowstones. Gold is used to purchase power and food items for the players while shadowstones can be utilized as the virtual currency on the gameΓÇÖs marketplace known as Emporyum. Users can trade these in-game items with other players or sell them on third-party marketplaces.
There is no official game token like other blockchain-based games or governance tokens as the creator behind the game believes that decentralizing the governance can cause issues and hurdles in introducing swift changes.
Lost Relics is no doubt one of the earliest players in the blockchain gaming market but now it is being overshadowed by other major games in the market like Axie Infinity, Splinterlands, etc. Another aspect that may be disturbing for play-to-earn enthusiasts is that it requires excessive grind to earn even a small amount of money through the gameplay.
The battle or combat inside the game is overly simplified as it just involves normal and a special attack as compared to other blockchain games that have plenty of skills, powers, and customization for the in-game characters to help in the combat. The free version of the game is very limited and users have to buy Power Pendants to unlock the premium version of the game involving better adventure, skills, and benefits.
The game is a fun experience to play with good graphics and gameplay but isnΓÇÖt much promising if you are looking to earn income through it. If you are fond of action-adventure role-playing games, Lost Relics may be the right game for you but make sure to do your research before spending time on it.
